Understanding URL Tracking & Shadow Profiles
Social media platforms attach unique identifiers to the links you share. Parameters like fbclid (Facebook) or igshid (Instagram) track exactly who shared the link, allowing platforms to map social connections even outside their apps.
How BareLink Protects Privacy
BareLink parses your links strictly on your device for standard URLs. For shortened links (like TikTok or Twitter), it uses a secure serverless function to safely unmask the hidden destination without executing malicious tracking scripts.
